1 Year Anniversary!

January 14th John and I have been married 1 year! I can't believe that I've already been married to my best friend for that long! It's true that time flies when your having fun. I have learned so much about John and myself this past year. I can't believe how motherly I have become.. haha I am a nervous reck sometimes when it comes to John going on ride alongs, bills ugh.. I hate bills, and just our family in general. I call myself Mrs. Paranoid! But what else I've also learned about myself is that my love for John grows more and more everyday! I didn't know that was possible because I already thought I loved him so much! I've learned that John is the most caring, easy going, selfless person I have ever met! He is so good to me and cares about my needs always before his own. Sometimes I feel so selfish compared to him. He is very good at helping me keep my faith in the future and that anything is possible and in our reach. He is such a wonderful person and I feel so blessed to have him in my life for forever!
For our 1 year anniversary we went up to Salt Lake and spent the night at the Anniversary Inn and then went to the Outlet Mall in Park City and just spent the whole weekend together relaxing and spending time together. It was so nice! This is a picture of us leaving the hotel the next day! Aren't we so perfect together!?
John, babe, I love you so much! I can't believe this is my life to spend the rest of it with you!

Happy 2011!

So much has happened in 2010 and I feel like I have been so blessed. So I thought I would give a quick recap of what happened with John and me in 2010!
So starting off the new year John and I were married January 14, 2010. It definitely was the best day of my life and I don't think I'll ever forget the way I felt that day being sealed to my very best friend for all eternity!
January 27th I believe is the day John's little brother Max left on his mission to Argentina. We are so proud of the work he is doing! And having served missions ourselves know of the blessing that can come from serving a mission not only for the people you are serving but your family, friends, and yourself! It's an experience he will relate to for the rest of his life!
January 29th I turned 25 years old!! Holy Crap I never thought that day would come!! haha It's almost my birthday again and I still accidentally tell people I'm 24..

In March the Gomez family, one of my most favorite family's I taught on my mission, for 8
months might I add came to Utah to be sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City
Temple! I felt so much joy for that family that day! I felt like its was my own children going
to the temple.

Also in March (the date is unclear) my mom had a bad accident and broke both of her shoulders. And just three days later had to have surgery on both of them! Replacing her right shoulder and placing a pin in her left shoulder! It was very dramatic and very scary!! Both John and I felt it was very important to be there for her and my dad so in just 6 days we sold our contact at our apartment and was moved into my parents house. There we stayed for about 5 months. I'm very grateful that we were able to be there for my parents. We now have an even better relationship with them! I love them!
While living at my parents I got a second job at Gas in Go gas station. But for only about two month to make a little extra money and something to do while John was in school. Which brings me to the next point..
John started POST the Police Academy in June! He did very well one of the top in his class! I'm very proud of how hard he is working. He's dream is to be a police officer so he can really get out there and help! He is such a wonderful person and very brave might I add! It scares me to death to think of the work he will be doing, but I also think it takes very special people to do that service, not job, service!!
In September we moved!! My mom healed quite well and is doing great! So we felt it was time to move into our own place again. I love it! We moved into a cute little 2 bedroom apartment and got a steal of a deal. The ward is fun and is very young. We're still getting to know everyone.
Me and John had our first Christmas together! It was so much fun! We got surprise bonus' at work and felt so blessed! We had a home made christmas by making all of our decorations!! It turned out so cute! John is very talented and made some beautiful snow flakes. People even bought some of his snowflakes.
December 31st my baby sister Kaitlyn got married! My mom planned the wedding in just one week and it looked wonderful and Kaitlyn looked beautiful! I took her bridals and engagements, makeup, hair, and nails. I'm glad that I was able to help out so much! John took a lot of the pictures of the wedding, we make a great team!

And that was our 2010. Quite busy.. but it was great!
I've been trying to think of some New Year Resolutions, but I'm not doing so well. I think its because I call them resolutions I like goals better. I've only come up with a few goals..

Goals for 2011
  • Eating healthier by cooking more; 6 days out of the week!
  • Start crafting more. A new "big" project every month by sewing or painting.
  • Piano lessons! I finally found someone to teach me piano and I'm so excited to learn!
  • Reading El Libro De Mormon! To better my spanish. (very important)
  • Getting a concealed weapons permit..
  • Better my knowledge at work so I can be more productive and NEVER be scared to help a customer!
  • Bills, bills, bills.. I'm going to cut down my bills in half!!
  • Be better at saving my money for our future home and family!
  • Becoming a better person by focusing on being more POSITIVE!! Sometimes it's really hard for me to not worry about everything and thinking the worst could happen. Relaxing a little more..
Ok I guess I had a few more goals then I thought.. I have a feeling this is going to be a great new year!

I've already started one of my goals, crafting! Well first I reorganized our spare bedroom, put some shelves in and bought a cute table for my new "Sewing Room"! It's so fun I can't wait to get started on all the sewing ideas I have. There are seriously so many! But first I wanted to spruce up the room a little with a cute clock. I got the idea from the Make it and Love it blog. I got my very plain big white clock at Ikea and added some fabric and pink rosettes and it just adds so much to the room! I love it!

The rosettes make it so fun!

Christmas for a Dollar

Lately I've been a little obsessed with doing crafts especially the ones I find on others blogs! This Christmas we're trying to be careful with our money, but the only Christmas decorations we had was a Nativity set that I got for Christmas last year. Cute huh!

We didn't even have a tree! But no worries our house is now Christmassy and all for $1!!
The other night me and John stopped at the Dollar Store to get one thing but that never happens.. I really wanted a cute wreathe for our front door and I found a bare pine wreathe (it looked pretty wimpy) some glittery red berries, some poinsettia flowers, they have tons of cute ribbon, and I got a cute ornament of a reindeer covered in gold glitter. I put them all together and here's how it turned out! Pretty good for the Dollar Store!

I had lots of berries and flowers left over so I found a cute vase from my house added a knew ribbon and I have a new center piece for our kitchen table.

I found a cute little vase at Walmart for $1 stuck a whole package of candy canes, added some ribbon and a flower! Super cute, I think!

My dad had cut a bunch a blocks for me when I was a YW camp leader last summer and I have a bunch left over still so with some cute christmas paper scraps from an earlier project we made this cute sign! John did the letters because he is amazing with that kind of stuff!

John is a snowflake wizard!! So we decided to make all of our ornaments. Of course snowflakes! Here are some of his masterpieces!

We didn't have a tree but we did have some skinny pine trees from our wedding so we put some snowflakes on them.

But for our main tree we put gold glitter on them just to jazz them up a bit! I love glitter!! Everything is better with glitter!

We were at a craft fair the day after Thanksgiving and saw these cute ornaments one booth had the difference was the type of paper they used. Theirs was music notes and maps but we thought to use some cute christmas paper to put them on our tree. It just happens to be as easy as it looks. I love how they turned out!

From the Dollar Store I bought a roll of ribbon that is 3 yards and made 7 little bows for our tree. Bows on a christmas tree remind me of my mom, she always liked putting bows and flowers in the tree! It's a great touch!

Here is our skinny tree! Everything from the star, garland, and every ornament costed under $1!! I am very impressed with how well we did! Now we were able to get each other the presents we wanted. Which makes me so happy that I can make John happy!

The best part about christmas for $1 is that John likes creating things just as much as I do. So the last 2 weeks we have spent our time together sitting at the kitchen table creating all these great things. It was so much fun! I have a wonderful husband!

Wall Flowers

I saw on a tutorial how to make paper/napkin flowers on the MADE blog. It looked so easy I had to try! And it is so easy I made 3 giant flowers. Here's how you do it!

I was using tissue paper cause that's what I had; on the blog they used giant napkins. First get 4 giant papers and one slightly smaller for the middle. The smaller one will be the middle color of your flower so its fun to do a different colors or design. I cut up the edges on the middle sheet first before folding it will make it much easier.

Then fold all the papers together like you would a fan. Then tie a string around the middle to hold it together. I used a twisty tie for baggies. You could use anything really.

Cut the ends in a curve. That will really finish the flower.

Then flare out each sheet and your flower will end up something like this!

If you curve the edges like this it makes the flower like a little more like a paper flower. But still really cute.

I tied them all together and hung them on the wall. They really are giant flowers! I didn't think they would be so big but they are really cute. I was thinking they would look cute in my nieces bedroom or in my future sewing room! ;) (can't wait by the way)

I love blogs!

I just found a new blog that I can go crazy about! It's called All Things Thrifty. I like it so much I added a button to make it that much easier for everyone to check out the great things she is creating all the time! My other favorite blog is Make it and Love it I've been checking out that blog for a while now and actually that's where I've been getting all the great ideas of how to decorate my home lately. So I finally added a button for that one as well! So check them out! You won't be sorry!

Raspberry Lemonade Slush

I found this yummy super easy raspberry lemonade slush recipe on my favorite blog, Make it and Love it. It was delicious!

It only has three ingredients Simply Lemonade, ice, and frozen raspberry. And a little sugar if you would like.. Stick it in the blender and yummy!

Bowling Night!

When me and John were dating we went bowling at least once a week. Actually our first date was bowling. I was horrible! haha I think my score was like 50.. But now I actually do pretty good and I can keep up with John! I'm pretty proud of myself 8)
Here are some fun pictures of our bowling date!

You know John is having a good time when he makes this face!
Again using my phone to take pictures, not the best idea..

It has been a long time since we've gone, but we had alot of fun just the two of us.
